Caring for Your Body and Mind
When cancer is involved in your life, even joy can be overshadowed by anxiety. Moncrief has specialists who have helped many patients and families deal with the emotions of cancer.
We offer therapy sessions by a compassionate clinical psychology team, so you can talk through difficult issues in a supportive setting. We also extend that high-quality, personal care to cancer survivors, family members, and caregivers. We see anyone impacted by cancer, including those who are actively in treatment (for example, undergoing diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation) or within one year of the last active cancer treatment.
Psychologists have specialized knowledge that can help you:
- Cope with a cancer diagnosis and fear of recurrence
- Learn how to handle stress
- Deal with fears and depression
- Understand sexual issues and body image
- Work through grief and loss
- Learn healthy lifestyle habits
Face-to-face therapy sessions with our psychologists are held at Moncrief Cancer Institute in Fort Worth. Teletherapy sessions are also available. To make an appointment with a member of our team, please request a referral from your UT Southwestern oncologist.
